Sažetak
One of the most important phases of mould design is conceptual mould design. The approach to this mould design phase is usually based on the designer's experience which can lead to some raw mould design faults, and which are later very difficult to correct. One of the possible solutions for this problem is application of morphological mould matrix and decision-making diagrams, which can guide to the solution for certain partial mould functions. Decision diagrams are especially important for young and less experienced mould designers. On the other hand, application of those diagrams is not user friendly. In recent years, application of artificial intelligence has been proven as very efficient tool for making high level complexity decisions, such as those in conceptual mould design phase. The paper presents a new generation of graphical expert system shell – VisiRule (based on Prolog programming language) and its possibility of application in conceptual mould design for injection moulding of polymers.
