Sažetak
Groundwater development, use and management are of the crucial importance to meet the rapidly expanding urban, rural, agricultural, industrial and commercial water requirement. Groundwater level is attributed to drainage (pumping) and recharge rate. The growing need for groundwater development and its use, inquire sufficient recharge rate. Recharge of the aquifer system comprises also the risk regarding contamination of groundwater sources. Therefor the reliable monitoring of data and estimation of groundwater recharge rate become essential issue due to increase of water demand and necessities to escape the aquifer depletion and quality decline. Shallow alluvial aquifer of the river Sava is the main water supply source in Zagreb. This aquifer is susceptible to depletion and contamination. The paper focuses to the necessity of recharge an unconfined alluvial aquifers at Mala Mlaka pumping site.
