Sažetak
Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, Is supplied with water from 7 well systems situated along the Sava Valley. Petruševec Is one of the well systems, which Is located on the left bank of the Sava river ; the first group of wells was constructed here for draining the groundwater from the alluvial aqulfer. The design of the existing wells at Petrusevec Il is based predominantly on the traditional experience gained from the construction of wells In Zagreb. This paper analyzes and comments the results provided by the investigation of the PP-12/l borehole and the design of the BP-7 well, which has been constructed 4 m from the PP-12/l well. Based on the aquifer investigation results, the scientific background related to the well design criteria and the experience gained through design and construction of other wells, a new well design has been suggested for the Petrusevec II well system. The design of the new well anticipates a smaller diameter and different drilled depths of the well, the screen and the pump housing. The conductor pipe, the concrete slab, a thinner filter pack (quartz) of smaller grain size without clay, and two gravel-fill ports have been recommended. The new well should be developed more efficiently through a pumping rate of 150% higher than the capacity of the earlier designed wells.
