Sažetak
The Butoniga accumulation represents one of the most significant water-managing objects on the Istrian peninsula, primarily because of its purpose in terms of protection from large waters, protection against erosion, as well as in terms of irrigation of downstream agricultural lands and water supply to the larger part of population of the Istrian peninsula. In the last few years, significant difficulties in the water-management of the accumulation itself, consisting primarily of reduced potable water quality and increase of erosive activities in the basin area, have been spotted. The work deals with the current Butoniga accumulation management issues and their impact on the water-managing activity. Measures and criteria for the improvement and revitalization of its hydrological and geotechnical characteristics for the purpose of reduction of water eutrophications and enhancement of the accumulation management efficiency have been described, as well.
