Sažetak
The author discussed the instances of a peculiar use of overt forms for animate in Slovene, namely the sentence type when the head noun is not present and the adjective has the genitive form instead of the nominative form that is the usual accusative form for innanimates. Because the genitivelike accusative form appears in the absence of the head noun, this phenomena is referred to as the "Orphan Accusative". The author revealed types of examples which show the unexpected distribution of the so called "Orphan Accusative" and offered the analysis which leads toward definitness, rather than animacy, what has been claimed within a traditional view (Perlmutter and Orešnik, Toporišič, most recently Rappaport).
