Sažetak
The expert system SOWAS (Selection of Optimum Wastewater System) is a comprehensive and simple tool for the selection of optimum wastewater collection, treatment and disposal systems in small rural areas. SOWAS consists of three interconnected modules, although each module works as a separate unit. The first module is formed as an elimination tool in relation to basic spatial properties of the particular area. For this purpose, the database was developed, containing a large number of communities, for which all potential wastewater collection, treatment and disposal solutions have been analyzed (designing and preparing of approximating costs estimates). The database is integrated in the neural network by using the program package NeuralTools (Palisade). Using the neural network, the user is able to easily and quickly define total or unit costs of construction, operation and maintenance of all potential alternatives. The second module allows detailed financial structuring of previously selected alternative solutions. The mathematical algorithm is based on determining the net present values. The detailed financial structuring module also contains certain forms of risk assessment, using the program package @Risk (Palisade). The third module includes the process of multi-criteria optimization and AHP method is applied.
