Sažetak
This evaluation was done as an estimation of instruments and instrumental methods help in the field of identification of firearms used in certain criminal offences. In practice, without help of instruments experts have to analyze a large amount of items from test fired samples or unsolved cases and for that reason time consumption and quality is questioned. It is well known that the comparative analysis of cartridge cases and bullets are subjective methods and those methods are depending on experts knowledge, experience and skills. Results of this study are showing the percentage of similarity for certain samples but also showing the practical value of instrument in the field of traces identification comparing to experts in dealing with the same problems. For collecting the samples we used firearms that are in our working collection. We used firearms in three different calibers: .22 long rifle, 7, 65mm Browning, 9mm Luger. As an instrument for acquisition, comparison or correlation and identification Ballistic Identification System CONDOR Intelligent was used. In total there was 153 firearms fired and 612 samples of bullets were collected. Firearms with six lands/grooves and with right twist were used for test shooting. As an reference two samples of each firearm are taken and secondary traces on the bullets were marked. Correlation server for correlations is using space between the lines that marks the width of the land mark, line that marks the angle of the land mark, and lines that marks the best traces in that space.
