Sažetak
Aim of study: To present our first experience with single balloon enteroscopy which is new endoscopic method for examination of entire small bowel. Methods: We performed the single balloon enteroscopy in 13 patients. The antegrade approach was used in 6 patients, while retrograde in 7 patients. The main indications were obscure bleeding, Crohn's disease and suspected tumour of small bowel. We used the small intestinal videoscope (Olympus SIF Type Q180). Results: In 2 cases we confirmed patohystologic findings of Crohn's disease (Fig. 1). The polipoid lesions and ulcerations were found in 3 cases. The biopsy specimens of lesions were related to adenocarcinoma (Fig. 2 and Fig. 3). The multiple erosions of small bowel were detected in 2 cases. In 6 cases no pathology was found. Conclusions: The single balloon enteroscopy is very useful diagnostic and therapeutic method for pathology of small bowel but endoscopist must be very qualified in endoscopic techniques. Also, enteroscopy requires a lot of time and permanent fluoroscopy control.
