Sažetak
The polyester fabric made of poly(ethylene-terphthalate), is not comfortable due to low water absorbency. Therefore, surface modifications such are aminolysis, hydrolysis and zeolite treatment are necessary for better comfort and other properties. On the other hand, the conventional modifications of e.g. aminolysis with EDA and hydrolysis with NaOH, produce huge amounts of textile wastewater. The increasing demand for conservation of natural resources and environmental protection has forced researches to find alternatives to current technologies in order to reduce water consumption, increase energy-efficiency and cut emissions of hazardous chemicals. Currently, textile wet processes assisted by ultrasound are of high interest for the textile industry. The present paper shows results of the natural zeolite nanoparticles implementation by ultrasound onto polyester fabric surface for achieving better UV protection. For this purpose the PET fabric for summer cloths was modified by ultrasound with and without different concentration of activated natural zeolite nanoparticles. It is well known that UV protection depends on reflection, absorption and transmission of UV radiation, as well as the fiber and fabric properties, and wet process treatments e.g. dyeing, optical brightening etc. Therefore, the modification of PET fabric by ultrasound was investigated by FTIR-ATR Fourier Transform Infrared - Attenuated Total Reflectance. The absorption of optical brightener and UV protection were determined as well. It was shown that ultrasound modification, optical brightening and zeolite addition increase fabric UV protection.
