Sažetak
Particle erosion is wear loss from surface of solid body because of relative motion of fluid with solid particles. When impact angle is low (between 0° and 30°), this kind of erosion is called the abrasive erosion. On the other side, if the impact angle is between 60° and 90°, it is considered impact erosion. One of the advantages of ductile cast iron in relation to other cast irons is its good wear resistance. Austempered ductile iron has an exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratio with good fatigue strength and fracture toughness, but some tribological and mechanical properties are, however, not quite as favorable as that of steel. However, we must consider that wear resistance depends on condition of wear. Particle erosion resistance is a function of an impact angle and a kind of erosion particles. In this paper, samples of ductile cast iron and austempered ductile cast iron were eroded with angular steel erodent particles at six different angles of impact (15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75° and 90°). Test results were presented in loss of mass after the testing. Test results showed that abrasive erosion resistance (impact angles 15° and 30°) of ductile cast iron was better comparing to austempered ductile iron. Impact erosion resistance (impact angles 60°, 75° and 90°) of austempered ductile iron was better then impact erosion resistance of ductile cast iron (except for impact angle 90°). The maximum measured wear of ductile cast iron was at 60°. Wear of austempered ductile iron was minimal at 60°.
