Sažetak
The Nature Park of Kopački Rit represents a large lowland marsh located between two large rivers, the Drava and the Danube River, which fluctuations strongly influence the presence of mosquitoes and black flies, causing nuisance and bites on human visitors and potentially affecting the tourism and economy of the region. In order to identify the present black fly species of the Kopački Rit, sampling of adult populations was performed by using dry ice baited CDC traps at four stations located at the high part of the Kopački rit which is out of flooding. The monitoring was practiced once monthly during the period of adult activity, from May to September of the seasons 2007 and 2008. Obtained results demonstrated the presence of four mammophilic black fly species in the region of Nature Park Kopački Rit: Simulium erythrocephalum (De Geer, 1776) and Simulium balcanicum (Enderlein, 1924) represented the two dominant species, while Simulium equinum (L., 1758) and Simulium reptans (L., 1758) were captured occasionally and in low numbers. Higher number of specimens was obtained during the season of 2008, rather than in 2007. The number of captured specimens of S. erythrocephalum and S. balcanicum is strongly related to the water level conditions of the main breeding sites. Permanent high water level conditions, especially during the spring time, as demonstrated in 2008 enhanced the emergence of abundant populations of both S. erythrocephalum and S. balcanicum.
