Sažetak
The globalization is evident in all fields of human life and activities, including tourism. Intensive inter-connections in economy, communications, technology and culture influence the travel market expanding itself thanks to new particularly long-haul destinations. The worldwide competition is thus changing major market conditions for both global players and small and medium enterprises urging solutions in policy concepts and practice. Europe as the leading generating and host macroregion retaining its position also in the future, faces integration process viz. a post-communist transformation causing serious implications for the entire tourist sector. Eventually, the author summarizes megatrends on the leisure and travel market together with quantifications of European tourism to the year 2010 and 2020.
