Sažetak
This paper describes structural integrity assessment of one double layer steel cylindrical pressure vessel with torispherical heads, produced by welding and used for underground storage of petrol. Torispherical heads are used for end closing of pressure vessel as well as for dividing it to enable storage of two different oil derivates in one combined vessel. Today, when designing pressure vessel one has to ensure that it complies with codes developed especially for pressure vessels (ASME, EN, etc.). Such codes reduce time needed for design and simplify production, simultaneously ensuring safe and reliable operation in working conditions. Though this approach is commonly used, a finite element analysis approach to safe design of such vessels also can be used. Finite element analysis undoubtedly requires more effort and is more time consuming but has certain advantages. It can be used for determination of structural integrity of pressurized vessel regarding to exploitation and testing conditions prescribed by appropriate standard. Therefore in this paper finite element analysis simulations are used to investigate weather hydraulic or pneumatic testing with internal pressure prescribed by EN 12285-1 standard has effect on structural integrity of observed pressure vessel. Finite element simulations are conducted on 3D model of the pressure vessel with diameter of 2, 5 m and shell thickness is 6 mm. Internal pressure is gradually increased to determine pressure value where plastic collapse of pressure vessel occurs. Obtained results are compared to standard recommendation. In finite element analysis weld connections of materials were considered as well as hardening of materials of pressure vessel.
