Sažetak
Aim Use of ozone on the nonsurgical endodontic treatment of Garres osteomyelitis Summary Garre´s osteomyelitis is a distinctive type of chronic osteomyelitis characterized by a localized thickening of the periosteum with a reactive deposition of new cortical bone. Ozonytron X generator was used for ozone therapy in this treatment. Ozonytron X generator(Biozonix, München, Germany) produces a high frequency electrical field which causes the molecular oxygen bond breakage and formation of activated oxygen atoms and transformation of O2 to O3. Ozone disrupts microbial cell structures and leading to immediate cell lysis. A 31-year-old male patient was reported with the complaint of pain and extra-oral swelling in the right inferior border of the mandible. Extra-oral examination of right side revealed a diffuse non-tender swelling which was hard in consistency. Radiographic appearance showed radiolucent periapical lesion associated with root apex of right mandibular first molar. Conservative endodontic non-surgical root treatment was performed : step back technique + irrigation with 2, 5%NaOCl (Kemika, Zagreb, Croatia). Ozone was applied directly in root canals and periapical region (KP and PA-L probes / level 5 / 60 seconds). An inter-appoitment dressing of calcium hydroxide (Calcipulp, Specialites Septodont, Saint-Maur, France) was sealed with the temporary filling material (Cavit G, Espe, Seefeld, Germayn). Finally, root canals filling was performed with gutta-percha (Kerr, Romulus, USA) and AH-plus (Dentsply De Trey, Konstanz, Germany) using cold lateral condensation. The crown was saled with a composite filling. In the next check ups the bone healing is controled with an x-ray. After some months the complete healing is confirmed.
