Sažetak
Mosquito fauna in Croatia is still not fully researched. Most of the data of those insects are more than forty years old and date back in times when malaria was raging. When malaria was rooted out, , the need for researching mosquito disappeared. Researching the presence of mosquitoes in Dalmatia, in the spring 1995, it was found that Aedes leucomelas Meigen 1804, (salinelus Edwards, 1912) lives there. The breeding place of this species was found in Pantan estuary the locality between Trogir and Split airport (Dalmatia). Another new species for Croatian fauna, Culex martinii Medschild, 1930. was noticed on 19.06.1988. in Vela Luka (Korčula, Dalmatia). The number of mosquitoes species in Croatia amounts to 44, which is certainly not a definite number.
