Sažetak
AN@TOMEDIA TM A NEW APPROACH TO MEDICAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENTS IN ANATOMY Maja Marinović Guić, Norman Eizenberg, Christopher Briggs, Priscilla Barker and Ivica Grković University of Split School of Medicine, Split, Croatia University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia e-mail: maja.marinovic.guic@mefst.hr Aims: To present the development of an innovative approach to learning anatomy designed to meet the needs of all health sciences curricula with reduced contact time. Methods: An@tomedia™ was designed as an arrangement of 9 modules: ‘ General Anatomy’ , ‘ Back’ , ‘ Abdomen’ , ‘ Thorax’ , ‘ Upper Limb’ , ‘ Lower Limb’ , ‘ Pelvis’ , ‘ Neck’ and ‘ Head’ . Each module contains 4 perspectives: Dissection (which also includes practical procedures & post mortem), Systems (which also includes conceptual & clinical anatomy), Regions (which also includes surface & functional anatomy) and Imaging (which also includes sectional & endoscopic anatomy). Results: Original visual features and design strategies (multiplicity of perspectives, practical vs. theoretical, fresh vs. embalmment) were developed. Focusing on critically important details and interactivity in hands of a user was achieved in addition to gaining a combination of 12 different types of anatomy textbooks in one CD. Formal evaluation by students and anatomy teachers was very favourable. Conclusion: An@tomedia™ is an original approach to learning anatomy, primarily developed to meet the needs of biomedical curricula. An@tomedia™ also provides a valuable resource for postgraduates (eg. surgical trainees) and practitioners (eg. surgeons, radiologists etc) in continuing medical education, self-education, and teaching or professional presentations. It may also be used in patient education and as a consultation tool (eg. for informed consent on surgical procedures or radiological investigations).
