Sažetak
The territory of the northern Serbia geographically is located in the south Pannonian basin. But, although this region is richness of surface water (Danube, Tisa and Sava river), the groundwater are the main sources of drinking water for the population over 2.000.000 people, and these groundwater are usually characterized with high content of natural organic mater complied with elevated values of color, ammonia, alkalinity, boron, natrium, and arsenic. Nanofiltration (NF) is a pressure driven membrane process widely used in drinking water treatment representing one of the solution in many pollutants removal. A pilot study of the groundwater treatment in the town of Kikinda, northern Serbia, evaluated the performance of using NF for the removal of organic matter, ammonium, natrium and arsenic by two serial-coupled polyamide nanofiltration membranes made by TRISEP (4040-XN45-TSF). The experiments were carried out varying operating transmembrane pressure and permeate flux. Process efficiency was evaluated by measuring TOC, UVA (254 nm), COD determined by KMnO4 oxidation, as well as ammonia, natrium and arsenic concentration in permeate and retentate. The results showed that used type of membrane can achieve rejection of organic matter >90%. Rejection of ammonia, natrium and arsenic reached 40 %, 35 % and 36%, respectively.
