Sažetak
Background: Stoma club Osijek has been founded in 1992. and gathers people with colorectal cancer and the members of their families from the Osijek region. The Club meetings are being held twice monthly. Objectives: 1.Social rehabilitation of people which underwent colorectal cancer surgery 2.To prepare people with colorectal cancer to take care for themselves independently 3.To prepare the family members of people with colorectal cancer to take care of them 4.The contentment of people with colorectal cancer and their families 5.To unburden the healthcare services 6.To promote consciousness of people for their own health Methods : The activities are being implemented through the education of the people with colorectal cancer and their families, which is being provided by nurses, medical doctors and the healt insurance experts, and is being held in the Clubs chambers or in the homes of those members which are not being able to come to the Club due to their medical condition. These activities are making a contribution within the prevention of complications of the disease, assurance of better quality of life, and healthcare money savings. The support for people with colorectal cancer is determined by their specific needs: problems in the provision of the needed facilities, assistance in prevailing the difficulties and in the acqusition of skills concering nursing care. Succesful social adaption, acceptance of the new condition, instructions regarding the realization of the rights from the health and retirement insurances. Results: Contentment of those with colorectal cancer, with them being fully independent, and their successful incorporation in their life and working society. Conclusion: Evaluation is being implemented through the year, by accessing the informations from the members of the Club. People with colorectal cancer are successfully solving their problems, and are fully fitting in their life and working environment. The members of our Club have not developed any complications regarding their disease during the last year. These results justify the existance of the Club for those with colorectal cancer. The benefits for the whole society are recognized in the encouragement for the care of one´s own health and through preventive exams.
