Sažetak
Existing cased wells are being recently reevaluated in order to discover potential oil and gas bypassed during well construction and casing. Bypassing hydrocarbon-bearing layers during the casing of the borehole can later in production result in recovering as low as 20% of estimated original oil in place. Well casings prevent use of traditional open-hole formation evaluation techniques. As a consequence, it is necessary to develop new methods and accompanied electronic instrumentation for reevaluation of the cased wells. Rock resistivity measurement methods are of special interest as a cornerstone of open-hole formation evaluation. Through casing resistivity tools based on contact measurement have been developed and commercialized, whereas the cased-hole application of inductive principle is still in research or early prototyping phase. In this paper we provide an overview of the electrical methods for resistivity measurement in a cased hole and discuss challenges, requirements and limits in electronic instrumentation for inductive resistivity measurement from within a single cased well.
