Sažetak
Background: The main objectives of this study were to examine health satisfaction among Croatian adults, and to test its relation with some sociodemographic (sex and age) and personal variables (self-esteem, trust in people, cynical beliefs about people, and loneliness). Methods: 300 adults, 25 to 75 years old, participated in the questionnaire study. The main variables were measured by one item assessing health satisfaction, Self-esteem Scale, Cynicism and Trust Scale, and UCLA Loneliness Scale. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, analyses of variance, and correlation analyses. Findings: The results showed that there were no significant sex differences regarding health satisfaction (t = -1.55, p = 0.122). The health satisfaction correlated significantly with age, self-esteem and loneliness (r = -0.33, 0.38, -0.19, respectively, p< 0.05), while trust and cynicism didn’ t correlate significantly with health assessment (r = 0.01, -0.09 respectively, p> 0.05). Discussion: This study confirmed significance of some personal characteristics for individual’ s health assessment.
