Sažetak
In the Croatian part of river Mura, signal crayfish was first recorded in 2008. From November 2008 to June 2009, a total of 110 sites were examined in order to determine the distribution front of the signal crayfish. During several fieldworks, LiNi traps were exposed continuously along the shore in approximately 250 meter intervals over the total of 57, 48 kilometres of the course. Traps were left overnight. The distribution front was recorded at 44, 9 kilometres from the river mouth, near the village Domašinec. As the first record in Slovenian part dates from 2003, and taking into account the current recorded distribution limit, downstream dispersal has been calculated at 13, 8 km/year. In 2007, at some of the examined sites only native noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) was recorded ; however, in 2009 only signal crayfish individuals were captured at those sites. In 2009, noble crayfish has not been recorded at any of examined sites. In Slovenia, the signal crayfish did not spread into the tributaries, in which Austropotamobius torrentium populations are established. The roles of habitat structure and water flow, as potentially limiting factors of the signal crayfish distribution, are discussed.
