Sažetak
Hydraulic dredge survey of bivalve communities in the eastern Adriatic was conducted during 2007 and 2008. Total of 104 hydraulic dredge samples were collected at depths ranging from 1 to 11 m. Samples of live bivalves were separated in the field and frozen for later laboratory analysis that included species identification, abundance, biomass, age and population structure determination. Live specimens of bivalve Acanthocardia tuberculata were found in 46 samples. Biomass and abundances varied significantly with respect to sampling location – highest biomass and abundance were recorded in Kamporska Draga on island of Rab (12.26 g/m2, 0.53 ind/m2, respectively), Pag bay (4.45 g/m2, 0.14 ind/m2) and Cetina river estuary (4.42 g/m2, 0.10 ind/m2). Live specimens of this species were not found in Barbat channel, Starigrad/Paklenica, around island of Vir, Stara Povljana bay (island of Pag) and Pantant (Kaštela bay). Collected specimens ranged in length from 9 to 66 mm with a mean value of 34.63± ; ; 12.28 mm. Analysis of population structure at thee locations with highest population densities revealed that individuals belonging to age classes from one to five years dominated in samples from Cetina river estuary, while in Pag bay and in area around island of Rab majority of collected A. tubercolata specimens had less than three years.
