Sažetak
Although Posidonia oceanica meadows in Mediterranean Sea have been studied over the last few decades, the data about the status of this endemic magnoliophyte and the associated fauna are scarcer from the Adriatic Sea. Anthozoans from P. oceanica meadows were surveyed from 1998 to 2006 using scuba diving at 10 sites in the area of the Dugi Otok Island (Eastern Adriatic Sea). The P. oceanica meadows features from investigated areas were also investigated and compared. Significant differences in species richness of Anthozoan fauna were found among investigated sites, especially between site in the vicinity of the tuna farm and the other sites. Their diversity (especially of soft corals) increased at sites in the Dugi Otok channel and the main impact factors seem to be the input of organic matter, originating from the fish cages and sewage input. A total of 41 taxa of Anthozoan fauna were identified at the investigated stations and the soft corals dominated in all samples. The highest number of species was recorded at investigated sites BO, SA, FU and IZ at the inner part of the Dugi Otok Island. The present study shows the high differences in Anthozoan diversity in Posidonia oceanica meadows among various sites with and without anthropogenic influence.
