Sažetak
Aviation height measurements till now have been based on barometric and radio-altimeter data. The Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) in use determine the position only in the horizontal plain (2-D), and a height determination based on an Inertial System is hardly used. Development of electronics and its miniaturization enable a big potential increase in capabilities of INS-based equipment, and the improvement of air navigation as a whole. At the Faculty of transport and traffic engineering of the Zagreb University, primarily for air navigation purposes, the idea of three axes INS was conceived. The problem has defined the research subject: To analyze the possibility of accelometric height determination, and to find a way of measurement and the vertical acceleration measurement corrections, according to the state of technological development, which have the potential of achieving the criteria of necessary precision and availability. The problem and the research subject determined the set hypothesis: To give a theoretical base which would enable the construction of a sufficiently precise and reliable accelometric altimeter to be used in air navigation.
