Sažetak
Generally speaking, there exist two different approaches to the mathematical description of dynamics of flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). The first one is the theory of discrete events (Villa and co-workers, 1984) that is convenient for description of the time-discrete part of the FMS dynamics. The second approach includes the state space method in the time-continuous form ( Kinemia, 1982, and Novaković, 1990), or in the time-discrete form. The best results would probably be obtained by the combination of the two above mentioned approaches. In this paper the concept of the state space and generalized coordinates have been combined by the signal-distibution matrices of FMS. This procedure enables looking for the optimal structures of FMS.
