Sažetak
The occurrence of beauvericin has been investigated in corn samples collected in 1996 (105 samples) and 1997 (104 samples) from 14 corn producing counties of Croatia. A significant difference (P<0.01) was found between the 1996 and 1997 crop years. Beauvericin was found by using high performance liquid chromatography in 18 samples (17.4%) of the 1996 crop and 1 sample (0.96%) of the 1997 crop with mean concentrations of positive samples of 401.5 ng/g and 696 ng/g, and highest concentrations at 1864 ng/g and 696 ng/g, respectively. The results of beauvericin analysis were in agreement with the mycological analysis showing higher incidence of Fusarium moniliforme (3,7%) and F.subglutinans (5,4%) in 1996 with respect to 1997 showing F. moniliforme (1,9%) and F. subglutinans (0,4%). This is the first time beauvericin has been researched and detected in Croatia.
