Sažetak
The aim of the research was to determine effects of different oils (Bergafat preparation that is commonly used in poultry production, Pronova preparation rich in n-3 PUFA, and rapeseed oil) on the deposition of fatty acids in lipids of turkey breast muscles. The research was carried out on 180 turkeys of the Nicholas 700 provenience being 16-19 weeks old. Turkeys were randomly divided into six groups with 30 turkeys in each. The experiment was set up in three repetitions. Turkey diets contained 3% of Bergafat, 3% of Pronova, 3% of rapeseed oil (1st, 2nd and 3rd group) and combinations of these oils in equal amounts (4th, 5th and 6th group). Contents of fatty acids in diets and in muscle lipids were determined in the Chrompack CP-9000 chromatograph equipped with flame ionization detector. Fatty acids were presented in % of total fatty acids (SFA, MUFA, linoleic (C18:2n-6), arachidonic (C20:4n-6), n- 6 PUFA, α -linolenic (C18:3n-3), eicosapentaenoic (C20:5n-3), docosahexaenoic (C22:6n-3), n-3 PUFA and n-6/n-3 PUFA). Significance of differences between groups was elaborated by analysis of variance (ANOVA). Deposition of fatty acids in lipids of breast muscles was described by linear regression equation (y=a+bx) and correlation coefficient (r). The highest content of n-3 PUFA was determined in breast muscles of turkeys fed diets supplemented with 3% of Pronova (7.34%), and the least content of n-3 PUFA was exhibited by turkeys that had diets with 3% of Bergafat (4.34%). Supplementation of Pronova to turkey diets resulted in significant (P<0.001) increase of EPA, DHA, and total n-3 PUFA, as well as in decrease of MUFA in lipids of breast muscles. High and positive correlation coefficients were determined between contents of EPA (r=0.992), DHA (r=0.950), total n-3 PUFA (r=0.983) and the n-6/n-3 PUFA ratio (r=0.987) in turkey diets and breast muscle lipids.
