Sažetak
Core Network is based on the separation of functionality into a control layer, a connectivity layer and an application layer. In very large networks a non-hierarchical solution means that a very complex routing has to be set up in all Service Nodes (SNs). Introducing Call Mediation Nodes (CMNs) that can provide the routing between SN groups will simplify this considerably. The CMN does not have associated Bearer Interworking Function (BIWF), which means that it is trans-parent for bearer related signaling information between the SNs via the call control layer. The BICC signaling is carried on top of either ATM or IP based signaling transport using a Signaling Transport Converter, which makes the call control signaling independent on the underlying layers. The CMN is a combined node with the SN application. The CMN behavior is triggered on a per BICC route basis. This article has shown that the CMN node from the hardware/capacity/simplicity point of view should be very useful in very large networks with a non-hierarchical solution.
