Sažetak
This paper presents an algorithm for the efficiency assessment of the lightning protection system of the buildings and electric power plants. Lightning strikes are simulated using the Monte Carlo method in combination with the electrogeometric model. In the stochastic model, lightning protection system and the protected structure are represented with a number of straight segments, triangles and plane quadrangles. Efficiency of the lightning protection system is obtained as a quotient between the total number of simulated strikes ending up on the lightning protection system and the total number of lightning strikes ending up on the lightning protection system and protected structure.
