Sažetak
The testing of stability and adaptability of cultivars for yield is the essential procedure in each soybean breeding programme. Our study was undertaken for determination of genetic improvement in yield of some realised cultivars of soybean into the breeding programme of the Agricultural Institute Osijek. From 1996 to 1999 the microtrials were conducted under field conditions at Osijek (Eastern Croatia) on 14 soybean cultivars (0 and I maturity group). The trial was designed as a randomized complete block with 4 replications. The basic plot size was 10m2. Conventional agronomic measures for soybean were applied on trial in each year. The obtained data for grain yield were subjected to statistical analyses of variance by LSD test. In addition, yield stability and adaptability were estimated by parameters: regression coefficient, ecovalence and Plaisted and Peterson's method. The correlation between estimated parameters were also done. According to obtained results, differences among cultivars were significant in level, stability and adaptability of grain yield. So, six cultivars had high and stable yields and wide-general adaptability, five cultivars had unstable yield adapted to low yielding environments. Further, the very high positive correlation between ecovalence and Plaisted and Peterson's parameter indicated that smaller number of parameters can be used for estimation of yield stability without the reduction of the accuracy of estimation. Generally, these results have indicated that genetic improvement for grain yield has achieved in soybean breeding programme at the Agricultural Institute Osijek.
