Sažetak
This work deals with performance analysis of enterprises in terms of their care for quality. The measure of good care for quality is the possession of the ISO certificate. Although it is hard to say that enterprises without ISO do not pay enough attention to product quality, we assume that those who possess it do pay greater attention to product quality. Starting from this point we further assume that care for quality, or better quality eventually leads to a better business result. In that sense, the basic hypothesis of this research is that enterprises operating in compliance with the ISO standards are more successful than are those which do not have them. The hypothesis is tested on the concrete data of manufacturing companies in the Split-Dalmatian County.Introduction of the ISO standards improved the quality of manufacturing processes of all the analysed enterprises. This shows that the function of ISO was fulfilled in the analysed enterprises. This conclusion could be accepted for all the enterprises introducing ISO. Namely, preparation and operation complying with ISO require substantial investment. If an enterprise cannot operate in compliance with ISO, there is no point to invest in this direction. However, once when ISO is introduced, it provides a lot of benefits – from better financial result to better market position.
