Sažetak
The case of this study is organization and manager’ s characteristics in small enterprises. The analysis starts from the fact that small enterprises in general have more simple organization than the large ones, and that their management and administration are formally more simple than in large enterprises, but the efficiency of the management in those enterprises depends on characteristics and/or abilities of managers themselves. In this paper we show that in Croatian economy there is no significant difference in the degree of managers' education between small and large enterprises, as well as in the form of organization. However, small enterprises are altogether in worse economic position than large ones. However, it is disputable if that is caused by the lack of certain manager’ s characteristics, or some other factors could be pointed out as a main cause for that situation (technology, high production costs, using of intuition in the decision making instead of scientific methods and so on).
