Sažetak
The possible use of the parameters of hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis parameters in interdiagnostic differentiation and neuroendocrinologic typing of depression was investigated. Serum concentrations of T3, T4 and TSH, and TRH test were chosen as the parameters of HPT axis function. The study was performed in 103 patients with unipolar major depression, 42 patients with schizophrenia and 100 healthy subjects. In patients with unipolar major depression, the mean concentrations of HPT axis hormones were within the normal limits, and statistically significant interdiagnostic and intradiagnostic (type- and symptomrelated) differences were observed.
