Sažetak
The EU members although mainly economically developed societies, are not immune to the problems of the child labour. The international transnational criminal, human trafficking, child prostitution and socially acceptable economic activity of the children are some of the reasons of its existance. However, the child labour rates in the EU are extremely low and the economic involvement of children is predominantly conditioned with the legacy of the protestant ethics and the need of appreciating the value of work. The teenage population is mostly engaged in the legally acceptable working conditions and working hours in order to socialize with the role of the adult members of the society and their work of developmental nature should be considered from different perspective. The legal system of the EU provide considerably high standard for protection of the workers rights as the fundamental human rights immanent to the constitutional tradition of the member states. EU constitutional development should promote the child labour prohibition as the constitutional category of the supranational regional integration. In spite of the primary economic purpose of the integration in the beginning, the EU today implements consistent and efficient protection of the fundamental workers rights as the part of the human rights. In the discord between national legislative and secondary legislation in this area the legal activism of the European Court of Justice should provide the efficient protection of the young workers. The paper is oriented to the analysis of the legislative and both internal as well as foreign affair activities of the EU in the campaign against the child labour.
