Sažetak
Despite its previous use for exclusively industrial purposes ; 3D digitalization is today used in wide array of functions. Originally used as an application of three-coordinate measuring devices, first 3D digital devices were not considered adequate for use in functions as topographic body measurement. However, with the technological advancement in the electric optical devices, numerical algorithms, and computer’ processor speed, complex non-contact measurement systems was developed to enable more complex and faster shape measurement. Application of such devices for medical purposes was widely used in defining the body shape for the purposes of orthotic and prosthetic engineering, and are still most widely used precisely in these areas. Following, through improvements in precision, recording speed, and data analysis, application of 3D devices was further expanded to other fields, which lead to significant contribution in diagnostics and treatment of various medical conditions. Today, the above-mentioned systems are also commonly used in dental and cosmetic medicine. With the development of a simple, cheap, and reliable system based on the use of structural light, we wanted to contribute to further application of such methods for medical purposes [1].
