Sažetak
Cellular materials are of particular importance as energy absorbers in numerous engineering applications. Numerical modeling of cellular materials represents a particular challenge. In the presented paper the influence of a filler material on the energy absorption characteristics of open-cell specimen is observed. In order to deeply investigate and compare its effect, regular open-cell specimens have been used. For such two phase materials, the appropriate numerical modeling approach is homogenization of representative volume elements. The highly nonlinear material behavior of open-cell materials in compression includes several consequent collapse scenarios. This requires a particular attention when choosing an effective material model and special care for the homogenization procedure.
