Sažetak
Multiple-access broadband wireless networks are deployed for fixed and mobile applications. A wireless system solution is faced with a number of challenges such as: complex multipath time-varying propagation environment, limited availability of radio spectrum, limited energy-storage capability of batteries in portable unit, user demand for higher data rates, better voice quality, multimedia transmission and more other. In 1985, International Working Groups 8 and 13(IWG 8/13) were set up by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to make objectives for Future Public Land Mobile Telecommunication Systems (FPLMTS). In 1994, FPLMTS was renamed to IMT-2000 (International Mobile Telecommunications-2000). Proposals with different solutions have been submitted by ETSI (UTRA), ARIB (WCDMA), TIA/EIA (cdma2000), and others. There is one project that is very interesting for future of mobile communications. The air interface technology for IMT-2000 has to be chosen.
