Sažetak
In the outer layer of the notochordal sheath the collagen fibers are organized in oposite layers between each other, thus resembling so called ''fish-bone''. Such organization of gollagen fibers was found in annulus fibrosus in human vertebral column, where it enables the stiffness and resistance to pressure. In the middle layer of the sheath the collagen fibers have shown a transverse periodicity of 60 nm resembling to those of 64 nm in vertebrates. For the first time it was described that notochord is attached to the notochordal sheath by cilia-like structures.
