Sažetak
Benthic communities in the coastal area of the island Krk were surveyed with an aim of establishing the present ecological conditions in the area prior the operation of the newly constructed oil terminal and petrochemical industrial complex. several benthic communities and their distribution in the area were sudied. Most characteristic are the biocoenosis of littoral rocks, the biocoenosis of the high photophilic algae, and biocoenosis of fine well calibrated sands. At present, benthic communities are generally not influenced by municipal and industrial pollution. The ecology of several species of macroflora and macrofauna is discussed. The identified species are listed, and the presence of Anapagarus brevicarpus and Apseudes talpa in the Adriatic Sea is noted.
