Sažetak
The basic idea of the study is to find out the main reasons of unsattisfactory situation with organ and tissue transplantation in Croatia. Attitude scales and knowledge questionnaires regarding organ donation from living and cadaveric persons were developed. Measures of personal involvment were also included to examine weather the persons who have some experience with a need for organ transplant would be more likely to agree to organ donation. The questionnaires were applied to ordinary people sample (N=200). The criteria variable were the degree of willingness to donate his own tissue, his own organs after his death, organs of his deceassed family member and willingness to receive organ and tissue transplant. The attitude scales were also applied to medical personal sample (N=108). Fom medical personal sample the criteria variables were also the degree of wilingness to donate his own tissue, his organs after his death, and organs of his deceased family member, but, furthermore, willingness to ask someone to donate his own tissue and organs of his deceased familiy member. The structure of attitudes is analysed in both samples and the model for predicting willingnes to become an organ/tissue donor or to donate organs of deceased family member was tested via the LISREL computer program for modelling latent variables. For medical personal the LISREL was also used to test model of willingness to ask someone to give his tissue for transplantation or the organs of his deceased family member. Practical implication of results are discussed.
