Sažetak
Mixing performance of the horizontal rotating tubular bioreactor (HRTB) which represents a combination of a "thin-layer bioreactor" and a "biodisc" reactor was studied previously (1,2) which resulted in the evaluation of the structured "spiral flow" model. The four adjustable parameters of the "spiral flow" model were related to dimensionless numbers. The equations with the highest correlation coefficient were selected and applied further for developing the scale-up procedures for HRTB. In total, nine mathematical systems of equations for the prediction of model parameters were established and examined by simulation. Two of them were selected as the most suitable to describe the mixing performance of HRTB in a wide range of process conditions. They were incorporated as a part of the scale-up procedure which was based on geometrical and hydrodynamic similarity. Regarding the mixing characteristics, the established scale-up procedure showed an acceptable discrepancy of 30 %.
