Sažetak
Effectiveness of two of the newest generation antihistamines, levocetirizine and desloratadine, in inhibiting allergen-induced skin reactivity, had already been compared in the group of patients from France, in randomised, cross over, place-controlled trial. Methods: A double- blinde, randmised, placebo-controled study in 53 ragweed-allergic patients was done. Skin prick test (SPT) reactivity with ragweed allergen, histamne and buffered saline, was performed prior to, 1 and 24h after a single dose of either levocetirizine 5mg, desloratadine 5mg, or placebo. Results: Diamteres of ragweed-induced wheals were significantly smaller in both time points after a single dose of levocetirizine and desloratadine. After 1h and after 24h inhibition was significantly stronger compared to placebo. The analysis of potential defferences showed that levocetirizine was more potent, 1h and 24h after intake. Conclusion: Both antihitamines aplied in their therapeutic doses, significantly inhibited the allergen-induced skin reactivity in comparasion to placebo. Levocetirizine showed higer H1-receptor inhibition potency.
