Sažetak
The advantages of the high contact ratio (HCR) involute gears (contact ratio in excess of 2) compared with the standard gears (contact ratio less than 2) are: bigger load capacity, more uniform torque transmission and noise reduction. This is the result of double and triple teeth pair contact alternatively, instead of single and double contact. The bigger load capacity, as one of the most inportant features, enables a reduction of module i.e. the gear size. On the other hand, some negative properties can occur: one of them is a bigger sliding friction power loss. The paper explains the dependence of the friction sliding losses on HCR-gear geometry, especially on the addendum modification coefficients. A proper gear-design has an emphasized importance because an unproper choice of the geometry causes lower efficiencies. However, smaller modules of the HCR-gears result in decreasing of the sliding power losses and in partial compensation of inconvenient sliding conditions. An analysis concerning sliding losses and gear size for standard and HCR-gears which are transmitting the same torque and which have the same gear strength has been made.
