Sažetak
The main tasks of iconographic studies is the research of «image» and visual material as means of communication through the history, within the political, social and other frames that influenced their forms and meanings. It is an interdisciplinary approach generally, as well as in the Christian material. The connection between West and East is important to understand the way the sources and influences made their ways in formatting certain visual idioms. The interdisciplinary and international approach helped us in Croatia change the traditional knowledge and understanding of functioning of many art work, some of the examples I’ll present at the conference, raising the questions and problems of methodology in iconographic studies promoting the founding of the Center for Iconographic Studies at Rijeka University.
