Sažetak
In determining the resistance of castellated beams to lateral-torsional buckling according to Eurocode 3 (EN 1993-1-1) the application of the appropriate buckling curve is crucial. The calculation resistance model to lateral torsional buckling is defined only for bending memebers of constant cross-section and for rolled I-sections (buckling curve a and b), welded I-sections (buckling curve c and d) and other sections (buckling curve d). Howewer, the castellated beam has not constant cross-section (oppenings in the web) and buckling curve has not been unambiguously defined in Eurocode 3. Additionally, geometrical imperfections, structural imperfections and residual stresses are not the same by castellated beams in relation to rolled and welded I-sections. For the purposes of investigating the results of laboratory testing are very important. The paper shows the tested castellated beams in laboratory at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb. The failure mode was caused by lateral-torsional buckling. The comparison of the bending moments obtained by experiment and the bending moments obtained by design according to EN 1993-1-1:2005 has been conducted. The statistical data of the basic variable of correction of the design resistance function are given that are necessary for analysing the castellated beams at the probabilistic level. The authors will be present results of their research on the probabilistic level in realtion to target valueof reliability index according to Eurocode. The buckling curve will be proposed as appropriate for the lateral-torsional buckling resistance of castellated beams.
