Sažetak
As in all economies in transition banking sector in Croatia has went true rapid and invasive changes in the period of the last decade. Results of this process are completely different offer of the banking products to all potential users. Differences are not visible only in size of new products in offer but also in banks sector preferences towards different groups of clients. The benefits that different segments can obtain from this fast growth and development of the Banking sector in Croatia are completely different. Are the banks the only ones to benefit from the development of the new products? The purpose of this survey was to establish what the trends are in contemporary approach and general orientation towards banks clients with special overview on differences between treatment of the clients from general public and the clients from SMEs. The general conclusion of this survey, withdrawn from the research results, is that the segment of general public as bank clients is more privileged with the quantity and quality of banking products in disposal, than the clients from SMEs segment. Allocation of the financial means issued to the general public through bank loans is mostly orientated to household's consumption. In the same time financial means granted to SMEs are to be allocated in the development of the production, increase of the employment and competitiveness of Croatian economy. Since there is no way that the banks will settle for the lower profit the answer should be found in more intensive and complex public support for this segment of economy.
