Sažetak
Research named &laquo ; Matching interventions with risk/needs of children and youth: creation of a model&raquo ; is being conducted at the Faculty of Educational and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb. The purpose of the project is to entice a stronger and more explicit orientation of the interventions system for children and youth towards the rights of child and needs of children and youth in risk. Topic of presentation is related to results obtained through specific assessment instrument Youth Level of Service / Case Management Inventory (Hoge, Andrews and Leschied, 2002). This instrument is used for assessment of risk, needs and strength of child/ youth and their environment with the purpose of projection of individualized treatment. In other words, this instrument enables identification of risk levels for socially unacceptable behaviour as well as areas of strengths for each individual within eight areas/ subscales of risk. In that way specific intervention needs could be recognized. Related to that, on individual level, instrument enables choosing and planning goals as well as implementation of adequate intervention. Results of particular assessment of risk level are reflected in defining levels of risk, which can be low, moderate, high and very high. Research and experiences in Croatia, so far, show that interventions are not matched with risk and needs of children and youth with behaviour disorders. Assessment of risk and needs levels can be useful as the basis for matching interventions with risk/needs of children and youth. Research includes all children and youth in institutional treatment in Republic Croatia (418 children in 15 institutions). Data analysis is in progress. In this poster presentation the main characteristics of institutions and main characteristics of population (children and youth) will be presented. The idea is to find out for which groups of children and youth, today in Croatia, institutional treatment is intended, according to estimated risk levels as well as to strengths (competences) determined in this research.
