Sažetak
The rehabilitation of children suffering from speech and hearing disorders at Zagreb's SUVAG Polyclinic is founded on the verbotonal method concieved by Professor Petar GUBERINA. The Croatian dance educators created new verbotonal therapeutic procedures founded on the fact that speech and movement share many common characteristics and on the knowledge of Laban's art of movement. The early diagnostics and rehabilitation of children (3 to 8 years old) suffering from rhythm and tempo speech disorders grew richer thanks to the discovery of speech and movement as well as to verbal and non verbal interweaving. The experience, the observations and the research presented in this paper concern children who were included to body movement therapy due to their speech dysfluency. Stuttering and clattering are speech disorders of complex etiology and symptomatology. They are closely intertwined and therefore sometimes hard to distinguish. The research founded on PGR-Rades series of exercices points to specific differences in reacting, spontaneous movement, quality and repertoire of movement between stuttering and clattering children. The objective of this work is to specify at least partially the nature of those childrens' utterances. Although their utterances concern the area of speech pathology, they are primarily human, namely childish. Therefore, is there anything more natural then to speak by the language of body, movement and gesture? That is why such utterances belong to the professional competency of body movement therapist.
