Sažetak
The possibility of optimization of the distribution network by introducing the cross docking system has been demonstrated on a mathematical model. Regarding the type of problem, the optimization has been carried out by implementing the MS Excel software Solver. The results of the carried out analysis have shown that room for the reduction of distribution costs have to be searched for primarily in the domain of transport, in the target segment of the distribution network. The improvement elements have been achieved by outsourcing of the appropriate part of the supply chain, i.e. by introducing the cross docking system which is operatively managed by a 3PL operator. The quantitative changes, apart from the redistribution of LDC traffic and reduction of logistic costs, have been reflected also in the geographical arrangement of distribution, i.e. the change of transport routes which accommodate the freight flows. It has been noticed that by including the 3PL operator the logistic outsourcing becomes the dominant factor in forming the distribution network.
