Sažetak
The attractiveness of rural areas for tourism development is growing. Therefore, local communities are facing the new challenge – how to make a repositioning of image of the rural area, and how to support the development of tourism having in mind ecological sensitivities of the area and social-cultural attributes of the local population. In the paper are presented new trends on the rural tourism market and a specific model of rural tourism development ; including strategy, goals, instrument and measures that must be implemented in order to support the development of tourism in most appropriate way for local community. Rural tourism should significantly improve the local economy and quality of living. Also, it offers possibilities for new entrepreneurship activities and self-employment.
